Erythromycin loaded by tetrahedral framework nucleic acids are more antimicrobial sensitive against Escherichia coli (E. coli)

چکیده

Erythromycin is a commonly used broad-spectrum antibiotic, but resistance to this antibiotic makes its use less effective. Considerable efforts, beside finding alternatives, are needed enhance antimicrobial effect and stability against bacteria. Tetrahedral framework nucleic acids (tFNAs), novel delivery vehicle with three-dimensional nanostructure, have been studied as carrying platform of antineoplastic drugs. In study, the tFNAs in delivering erythromycin into Escherichia coli (E. coli) was investigated for first time. The increased bacterial uptake promoted membrane destabilization. Moreover, it permeability cell wall, reduced drug by improving movement across membrane. tFNAs-based system enhanced effects E. coli. It may therefore provide an effective targeting antibiotic-resistant bacteria thick wall.

Cellular Morphology and Immunologic Properties of Escherichia coli Treated With Antimicrobial Antisense Peptide Nucleic Acid

Background & Objectives: Antisense peptide nucleic acids (PNA) that target growth essential genes show potent bactericidal properties without cell lysis. We considered the possibility that whether PNA treatment influence the bacteria total nucleic acids content and apply approach to develop a new delivery system to Dendritic cells (DCs). DCs are the most potent antigen presenting cells in th...

Nucleic acid melting by Escherichia coli CspE

Escherichia coli contains nine members of the CspA family. CspA and some of its homologues play critical role in cold acclimation of cells by acting as RNA chaperones, destabilizing nucleicacid secondary structures. Disruption of nucleic acid melting activity of CspE led to loss of its transcription antitermination activity and consequently its cold acclimation activity. To date, the melting ac...

Binding of erythromycin to Escherichia coli ribosomes.

This paper concerns a precise study on the nature of the binding of erythromycin to Escherichia coli (Q13) ribosomes. (1) An equimolar amount of erythromycin bound to 50S ribosomal subunits at extremely low concentrations and this binding was not affected by the addition of 30S ribosomal subunits. (2) The binding of erythromycin to ribosomes was not significantly influenced by decreasing the Mg...

Antimicrobial activity of essential oils of cultivated oregano (Origanumvulgare) against clinical isolates of Escherichia coli

The present study was carried out to determine the potential antibacterial effect of essential oil of Origanumvulgare against antibiotic resistant E.coli. In this study, the essential oil of Origanumvulgare obtained by hydrodistillation was analyzed by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS) in order to determine their chemical composition. The minimum inhibitory concentrations ...

Cross-reactive protection against enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli infection by enteropathogenic E. coli in a mouse model.

Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) and enterohemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) are related attaching and effacing (A/E) pathogens. The genes responsible for the A/E pathology are carried on a chromosomal pathogenicity island termed the locus of enterocyte effacement (LEE). Both pathogens share a high degree of homology in the LEE and additional O islands. EHEC prevalence is much lower in areas w...
